2022 Ngorongoro crater entrance fees : The Ngorongoro crater is a safari destination which is found in the northern part of Tanzania and entrance fees are among the charges which tourists pay during safaris in Tanzania.

Residents/ expatriates visiting the Ngorongoro crater are charged entrance fee of 35.4 USD for those aged above 16 years while children aged between 5 and 16 years are charged entrance fee of 11.8 USD. And children aged below 5 years are not charged entrance fees for safaris to the Ngorongoro crater.
Other charges incurred by tourists during their safaris to the Ngorongoro crater include the crater service fee which is charged per vehicle. For Tanzanian citizens and East Africans, the crater service fee of 11,800 Tanzania shillings per vehicle and for non-east African citizens, the crater service fee is 295 USD per vehicle.
Different activities are carried out when visiting the Ngorongoro crater and they include game drives, nature walks, hot air balloon safaris, cultural tours and also bird watching.
During bird watching excursions around the Ngorongoro crater, birds like flamingos can be seen along the shores of the lake Magadi as well as many other birds. There are over 400 bird species found at the destination including the kori bustards, ostriches, grey crowned cranes and many others.

East Africans during walking safaris around the Ngorongoro crater are charged a fee of 11800 Tanzania shillings above the age of 16 years and children below 16 years are charged a fee of 5,900 Tanzania shillings.
The price charged for walking safaris around the Ngorongoro crater also depends on the duration of the walk and these walks can take about 1 to 4 hours and sometimes take over 4 hours. Some of the places where the walks are carried out during safaris include the Endoro nature trail and also to the elephant caves.
Camping fees for the Ngorongoro crater for Non east African citizens is 35.4 USD for those above the age of 16 years staying at public campsites and children aged between 5 and 16 years are charged a fee of 11.8 USD. Tanzanian citizens are charged a fee of 11,800 Tanzania shillings for those above 16 years while children aged between 5 and 16 years are charged a fee of 5,900 Tanzania shillings.
For tourists staying at special campsites during safaris in the Ngorongoro crater non-East African citizens are charged a fee of 70.8 USD for those above 16 years while those between 5 and 16 years are charged a fee of 35.4 USD. East African citizens and Tanzanian citizens are charged a fee of 17,000 Tanzania shillings for those above 16 years and children aged between 5 and 16 years are charged a fee of 8,850 Tanzania shillings.
Attractions that can be seen during safaris around the Ngorongoro crater include Ol duvai gorge, the Empakaai crater, Olmoti crater, the Laetoli footprints, Ol donyo lengai among others.
For visits to Ol duvai gorge, Non East African citizens are charged a fee of 35.4 USD for those above 16 years and children aged 5 and below 16 years are charged a fee of 11.8 USD. East African citizens on the other hand are charged a fee of 5,900 Tanzania shillings for those above 16 years and children aged between 5 and 16 years are charged 1,180 Tanzania shillings.
Concession fees are also charged during safaris around the Ngorongoro crater and they are charged to those staying at lodges and permanent tented camps. Non east African citizens above the age of 16 years are charged concession fee of 59 USD and children aged between 5 and 16 years are charged a fee of 11.8 USD. East African citizens above 16 years are charged concession fees of 35,400 Tanzania shillings and children between 5 and 16 years are charged concession fee of 11,800 Tanzania shillings.
Fees charged during safaris to the Ngorongoro crater are valid for 24 hours for one entry. Children below the age of 5 years are not charged fees during safaris to the Ngorongoro crater.
The Ngorongoro crater can be visited at any time of the year and the best time for safaris at the destination is during the dry season around June to October which is a time when wildlife species can be seen around water points or water sources. At any other time of the year including the rainy season safaris can also be done around the Ngorongoro crater.
